What makes AiroCide different from other air cleaners? |
| |
Two distinct features separate AiroCide from its competitors. First, there is no filter that requires regular changing or cleaning. The AiroCide technology is based on an immediate destruction of airborne contaminates - not trapping or collecting them in a filter. Second, many other air cleaners and purifiers produce some type of Ozone (O3) that is emitted into the air, though many are disguised ionizer or other terms. AiroCide does not produce any ozone and is the only air cleaner to completely destroy the pathogens that pass through its Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO) chamber. |

Can AiroCide eliminate ozone already existing in a room? |
| |
Tests have demonstrated that the oxidation reaction inherent in the Photocatalytic Oxidation (PCO) chamber will convert ozone to oxygen. So not only does AiroCide differ from many other air purifiers by not generating, but it helps eliminate ozone produced by other sources in the environment. |

Will AiroCide help with allergies/asthma? |
| |
Many of the common and recognized airborne triggers of chronic respiratory ailments like allergies and asthma are easily killed and removed by AiroCide, such as molds, fungi, pet dander, and dust mites. |

What types of businesses and industries use AiroCide? |
| |
AiroCide application range from quality control and food safety in perishable products and food processing industries to medical-healthcare (AiroCide is an FDA Class II listed medical device) and many other commercial, governmental and residential indoor air quality uses. Additional specific applications for infection control and terrorism preparedness functions also exist. |

How Does AiroCide work?
| |
The patented technology used in AiroCide combines two known pathogen-killing techniques, Photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) and ultraviolet light to destroy harmful airborne microbes. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is the photocatalyst used in the AiroCide product. When TiO2 is irradiated with the ultraviolet photons from the lamps inside, hydroxyl radicals (OH -) are formed, which oxidize (reduce the organics they contact into carbon dioxide and water) volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) that are adsorbed on the catalyst surface. They will also kill and mineralize airborne pathogens. AiroCide produces no ozone and is not a filter. |

Does AiroCide have any filters to replace? |
| |
AiroCide is not a filtering system and there are no filter media to replace. A protective fan element protects the inner workings of the device from large, bulk particulates. In adverse environmental conditions, incidental removal of such particles may be required. |
| |
Does the catalyst have to be replaced? |
| |
Since the catalyst is non-depleting (is not used up) and self cleaning (a process called mineralization) the photocatalyst will last a life time. The catalyst material simply causes the reaction but is not chemically oxidized (used up) itself. |

Why is so little air exiting from the unit? |
| |
The AiroCide technology’s PCO reaction is very efficient in generating OH - radicals which kill and remove aerosolized organic contaminants that come in contact with the reactor surface inside the device. Because of this, airflow through the device needs to remain low and constant and be hardly noticeable by sound or feel. |

| |
Is there protection against a power surge and overheating? |
| |
Both a circuit breaker that opens upon an amperage surge and a temperature cut off switch are included in the circuitry for protection of the electronics as well as shutting down the unit should there be a power or overheating malfunction. |

| |
Can I place the unit in a closet or concealed space? |
| |
For AiroCide to work effectively the space where it’s placed needs to have inlet and return air via the central HVAC system otherwise the closet or isolated space will be the only volume of air purified. The central HVAC system in your home or office needs to blend and mix the air as it continuously does while it heats and cools your environment. |
